The softest of touches on my neck wake me up. Jasper’s lips move slowly across my skin, his breath warm and inviting. Hands roam my body from my upper back to my butt when he realizes I’m awake, and I feel the heat from his calloused fingertips on my bare skin. I arch my back to press against Jasper, and his scent envelops me in its embrace. His smell is addicting, and at this moment, all I want to do is stay in his arms forever.

“Good morning, honey,” Jasper whispers, kissing my hair, before turning me to face him.

When I open my eyes, I see that sexy smile of his. My heart flutters and I know I’m in trouble. This man is dangerous to my heart, and I’m no longer sure I can resist him. Not after last night.

“Good morning, hockey hunk. Did you sleep well?” I ask, my voice barely above a whisper.

“Mmm, I did. This might be my second favorite thing, waking up next to you.”

“What’s your favorite thing?”

“The way our bodies fit together last night. Having sex with you for the first time will forever be one of my favorite memories.”

I swoon at his words and sink into him as he kisses me.

Our first day in Lapland was everything I hoped for. Meeting Santa, dinner under the stars, private hot tub, sex…oh man, the sex. After what I experienced with Jasper, I feel like all my previous times were poor excuses. But then, there’s no denying the chemistry we have. It makes a huge difference.

My muscles feel deliciously sore, and I still feel a bit sticky along the inside of my thighs. Wait a moment—oh shit. We didn’t use a condom!

My entire body stiffens at the realization, and Jasper must feel it because he asks, “Is everything okay?”

I hastily get up, taking the bedsheet with me to cover myself. I know it’s a bit too late for that, but I need some armor. “We didn’t use protection last night.”

His eyes go round as he sits up. “Fuck, I’m sorry, Vivian.”

“Jasper, I’m not on birth control…I’m between methods and having an IUD put in next month,” I barely get out, panicking.

“Wait, you don’t take anything?”

“No, I don’t! We need to get me the pill.”

I turn away to gather myself. I can hear him leave the bed and stand right behind me. What I’m not expecting is him wrapping his arms around me in a calming gesture. “Okay, let’s take a deep breath, honey.”

My eyes fill with tears as he makes me feel cherished in this moment. I do as he suggested and calm my breathing.

After a while, Jasper speaks again. “I’m sure there’s a pharmacy in the village. We can go together. How does that sound?”

I nod as I can’t find the words. How could I have been so stupid? This is very unlike me.

“It’ll be okay. I promise you that, Vivian,” he kisses my cheek.

“Thank you.”

“For what?”

“Not being a douche about it.”

He lets out a humorless laugh.
