My body slept between two powerful Alphas.

My Alphas.

But my spirit… it longed to be complete again.

After learning the truth of my history with Seifiek, I knew I needed to uncover the rest of my memories. It just so happened that there was another piece of my soul not so far from the cottage in which I had chosen to bond with my Alphas.

Coincidence? Hardly.

Where are you? I wondered as my Astral self wandered the Web.

This was something I hadn’t done in a while. With Etu lingering behind every strand, I risked pulling him out of hiding again.

There wasn’t much choice in the matter now. The Shard inside me burned to life, no doubt a beacon to Etu’s senses.

I wasn’t sure why he hadn’t already tracked me down. Perhaps something was distracting him.

Regardless, I decided to make use of my immersion in the Web.

I’d found myself in between the Web and this realm, resulting in a view that showed me both realities at once while I took my time.

And it was spectacular.

Silver burst to life everywhere I looked, lighting up the night sky as an ethereal and dreamlike view of the world around me came into view.

Trees swayed underneath an earthly moon. It was silver, too, just like the sun back in my home realm. It was part of the reason I liked the dark nights here.

It was as close to the Web as humanity would ever come.

I ran my fingers over the delicate strands of the Web, each one linked to someone’s future and every living thing around it. Tiny, delicate strings wound around leaves and tree trunks, giving the forest a vibrant display of light.

A low hum sent those threads vibrating, lifting all of the leaves to move with the wind.

Except, there wasn’t any wind. It was a disturbance in the Web that sent the forest purring to life.

There you are.

A glimmer, like a reflection of a mirror in the distance, betrayed its location.

As I followed the faint pull on my broken soul, the silver strands grew denser, intertwining with the branches of the trees, until I felt like I was walking through a fine mist. Dust clung to my Astral form, making me feel both light and heavy at the same time.

Are you fighting me? I wondered at the Web. Maybe it feared what would happen if I rekindled my shattered soul.

But it didn’t get a choice. I was done running. Done hiding.

Done pretending that pieces of me didn’t exist.

I’m doing this whether you like it or not.

Determined, I continued on, stepping into the glorious fractures of light as if I’d ventured into a painting. One where every stroke of color was imbued with magic.

Flowers bloomed along my steps, emerging in a riot of colors that defied any earthly palette. Their petals pulsed with gentle luminescence, all in sequence as if echoing a distant heartbeat.

I brushed aside a branch, moving deeper into the dreamlike alternate reality of liquid moonlight. A masculine whisper floated on the air, finding me with ease.
