Chapter 15

The end of the school year was coming close, and therefore, so did High School Prom

It was something neither Eliza nor Allie really looked forward to, but they had a feeling they would regret it if they didn’t attend it. As usual, they probably wouldn’t stay long, but at least, they would take part in it. Mainly because they wanted to vote for the queen and king of the ball and wanted to help Serena and Ryan win the title.

During lunch break, Allie and Eliza were sitting on the floor in the library, it had become the place where they spent most of their time when they weren’t in class.

«Are you going with someone to prom?» Eliza asked before shoving a bite of Oreo donut in her mouth and chewing on it.

«Carmilla invited me,» Allie replied before delicately putting a slice of apple into her mouth.

Eliza almost choked on her donut and it started to taste bitter, she began coughing.

Allie got closer to her best friend and patted her back. «You all right?»

Eliza nodded, «Yeah. It just went down the wrong hole.» She took a sip of water when the coughing subsided. «Are you gonna go with her then?»

«No,» Allie said nonchalantly.

Relief washed over Eliza and she held back a relieved sigh to accompany her feelings. «Why not?» she asked instead.

Allie shrugged, «I was gonna accept. But then, she mentioned what’s supposed to happen after prom and I wasn’t really into doing that so…» She trailed off.

«What’s supposed to happen?» Eliza crinkled her brow.

«You know, the moment when we’re supposed to have sex in the backseat of the limo. That’s what we see in movies at least. Anyway.» Allie shrugged. «I don’t want my first time to happen like this.»

«You’ve never… I mean…. You…» Eliza stuttered.

Allie quirked an eyebrow, «I haven’t had sex yet, no.»

«Oh, I just… it’s that you… I mean, you mentioned you had a girlfriend when you were in Ireland, so, I just assumed… Not that I think about you doing… you know.» A deep blush flared up Eliza’s face and neck.

Allie let out a laugh. «It’s all right, I know what you mean, and no. Our relationship didn’t get that far. We’ve made out a lot, and there’s been some upper body touching, but we’ve never… did that. Mainly because of me. I just… That may sound stupid, but I’m rather anxious about this level of intimacy, and I want to make sure that I won’t regret doing it. I also want to do that with someone I truly love and fully trust, especially for my first time.»

«That doesn’t sound stupid at all.» Eliza said, feeling as if her own thoughts and feelings had just been put into words. «I feel the same way.»

Allie smiled, «We should go together to prom.»

Eliza’s eyes widened and her mouth hung open.

«As best friends, I mean,» Allie said and pushed her glasses up her nose. «Unless you wanted to go with someone else.»

Eliza’s face lit up. «No, I’d love to go with you.
