Leyna snuggled into the curve of Jay’s warm body. “Is this a dream?”

“It’s not a dream.” His warm breath made her ear tingle.

She turned to face him in the dim morning light. “We should take this slow,” she began.

Jay brushed his fingers through her hair, lifting it away from her face. “Any regrets?”

“Not a single one. But we have a lot going on. Let’s just try not to get in over our heads.”

“I promise we won’t get in over our heads, but Lane, you’re the only girl for me. There’s nobody else I’m even remotely interested in.”

“So then…will we be seeing more of each other?” she asked, without looking up.

“If you’ll allow it, with all your damn rules, then yeah, nothing would make me happier,” he said, squeezing her hand. “But I’ll leave the ball in your court, because I don’t want to pressure you. That way you can make the next move.”

“Let me cook you dinner this week.” Zero hesitation. She couldn’t remember the last time that happened.

A smile formed at the corners of his mouth. “Leyna Milan, are you asking me out?”

His husky morning voice was so sexy. She grinned, running her fingers through his messy hair. “I am. So what do you say?”

“Well, I don’t know.” He furrowed his brow and stretched back against the pillows, hands behind his head. “You’re seeing me right now, so would cooking me dinner this week be too soon? Because, you know, that would mean we’d be seeing each other twice in one week, which is kind of a lot, don’t you think? Not to mention, your cooking might kill me.” He couldn’t go on for laughing and had to dodge her playful punch to his arm.

“I’m serious. What do you think?”

“Come on, Leyna, what do you think I think?” He tipped her chin up and brushed his lips over hers. “I thought you’d never ask.”
