Even those who think their family will be okay with their identity wonder if this could possibly put an end to the pleasant and supportive relationship they have had thus far. But ultimately, the pros outweigh the cons and this is a step that must be taken.

Our contributors have had a range of experiences with their loved ones. Some have found ways to include them as they move forward with their transitions. Others have found struggle along the path to their true selves.

At the end of the day, it’s all about including people in your life who give you what you need to be a positive and productive person. They can be family by blood or those brought into your life as chosen family.
