Whose Job Is It?

Recently, as I sat in a hotel restaurant, I watched a worker move purposefully about her tasks. She refilled containers on the buffet line, cleaned up the waffle station, and returned to the kitchen pans stacked higher than her head. As she scurried about, she never smiled and appeared to be put out. I had the distinct feeling someone hadn’t come in for his shift, and I was sure these tasks were outside her job description.
