is associate professor at the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws at the International Islamic University Malaysia. At present, she is teaching Islamic family law and Usul al-Fiqh. She specializes in Islamic family law and the protection of children’s rights in Islam, especially the law on illegitimate and abandoned children. She was the coordinator for IIUM Legal Clinic at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws from 2013 to 2017. She obtained her Ph.D. from the same university. Her dissertation primarily examines rules relating to foundlings (laqit) under Islamic law and the law in Malaysia. The first book authored by her is Protection and Adoption of Abandoned Children in Malaysia: A Comparative Overview with Islamic Law (2008). She co-authored her latest book, Islamic Family Law in Malaysia (2016). She has written a number of articles on issues relating to women’s rights, children’s rights and child protection as well as the means of protecting children through adoption, foster care and breastfeeding.
