“Create in me a pure heart, O God” (Psalm 51:10). What a powerful prayer. God can heal your heart, no matter the condition. You just need to ask. God can penetrate your heart through praise and worship music, prayer, the Bible, a sermon, humility, and gratitude. “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” (2 Chronicles 16:9). Ask God to heal your hardened heart. He is so faithful. In response to King Solomon’s prayer for wisdom, God said, “I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart. . . . Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for” (1 Kings 3:12–13). I love that God will do what you ask, but He will also give you what you don’t even know to request. “We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express” (Romans 8:26). Your heavenly Father knows exactly what your heart needs: “For your father knows what you need before you ask him” (Matthew 6:8).

God will heal your heart if you ask. “I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 11:19). A soft heart of flesh is all God needs to begin the healing and restoration of your marriage.

If God can raise the dead, He can absolutely resurrect a lifeless marriage. I’ve witnessed the miracle happen in relationships countless times. Truly, there is hope for you!

Let’s turn our attention to how we open our hearts in the middle of the Reactive Cycle.
