FEEL GOOD TIP

Try and interrupt the cycle of overthinking and find some perspective by asking yourself out loud, or on paper: Is this going to matter next week?

Dear Human,

Does your brain think about all this stuff that probably won’t happen, and leave it up to you to figure out if it’s real or irrational? Don’t believe everything you think.

Bizarrely, our good friend the brain can make us believe we are sh*t. For example, you think you left the front door unlocked again, so you need to go back and check it, or that your whole friendship group hates you because you missed a message in the group chat, and now everyone has discovered what a terrible friend you are.

How many times has that happened and you’ve accepted that it’s 100 per cent true? We’ve lost count how many times that’s happened to us. When you finally open up about it and realise that nobody noticed anyway, then you probably start overthinking the fact that you’re so unnoticeable.

When Aimie overthinks, the majority of the things that she overthinks are actually quite sensible.

The things Kiera overthinks, on the other hand, are things that will probably never happen. Kiera can’t believe she’s sharing these thoughts, but if she can share them in this book with hopefully what will be millions of readers, then you can share your thoughts too.
