Sacramental Ordinances—Non-Salvific

IN ADDITION TO those saving sacraments, the five temple ordinances surveyed above, an array of non-saving ordinances are also performed in Mormonism, more as a “help to faith” than as instrumental to salvation, administered “for our comfort, guidance, and encouragement.”1 Mormons consider them sacraments because they are performed by virtue of priesthood authority and are often (though not always) accompanied by covenantal obligations, though they are not requisite to salvation. First of these in importance is the Mormon version of the Eucharist.
