The same dictionary says that “sin” is “transgression of divine law.”[3] It isn’t the existence of God that offends the atheist. It’s the moral demands that come from God that cause the animosity. Look at how Scripture explains this: “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be” (Romans 8:7 NKJV).

Professor Dawkins’s godless (carnal) mind is deeply offended by God and His Law for the same reason a criminal is antagonistic toward criminal law. The lawbreaker hates the police because they stand for that which is right, good, and just.
