Blep kicked open the gate that stood between the landfill and the orchard. Then he froze in his tracks.

“Oh,” he said. Such a quiet response seemed very unlike the usually outspoken Blep. So Xander walked closer, and strained his head around the gate to see what he and Cradie were staring at.

In front of him stood the rolling hills of the Montgomery Apple Orchard. But the trees seemed to be moving. Xander squinted. Upon closer inspection, the trees weren’t moving at all. They were covered in bugs.

No, not bugs. Insect fairies.

The entire orchard was overrun by them! There were thousands of tiny creatures, shoving and pushing each other.

They were after apples, and each insect fairy wasn’t above throwing a couple punches to make sure his belly was filled. Even the rotten apples on the ground were being fought over by the pushy winged creatures.

“I guess we know where your apples went,” said Cradie.

“Huh,” said Blep. “I’m starting to see your point.”
