Aella

I took his hand and led him to the bedroom, pausing to take a breath at the end of the bed. We weren’t going to have sex so I had no idea how to navigate the night without the typical expectations. But Syd surprised me by slipping up behind me and curling his arms around my waist.

He nuzzled my neck and whispered, “I can still give you pleasure if you let me.”

I turned to give him a sardonic smile. “Am I going to have to hold my breath whenever I’m around you guys so you don’t know what I’m thinking every second?”

A warm laugh shook his chest. “Keep the thoughts deeper and you’ll be fine. It just takes a little practice. Or a little distraction.”

He slid his palms up my sides, the heat seeping through the thin material of my dress. I exhaled as he cupped my breasts, that untethered sensation returning. For some reason it wasn’t like it had been with Ezra despite the same understanding that he intended to focus on my pleasure and I should ignore his.

But I didn’t want to. I wanted to touch him. Undress him. So when he turned me and urged me down onto the bed, I reached up and unfastened another button from the top of his shirt. His eyes darkened with warning but he didn’t stop me as I worked my way down his chest until his shirt hung open and the dark skin of his stomach was bared to me, a trail of black curls disappearing into the waist of his slacks.

I licked my lips and my hands shook as I slid them up his smooth, taut stomach. My breath caught at the intensity of the heat beneath my palms and he inhaled just as sharply. He covered my hands with his, pulling them up to kiss each of my palms. “You’ll need to give me time to breathe if you plan to touch me, Aella,” he said in a low voice.

“I’ll try, but you guys are all like magnets to me. I can’t help it.”

He frowned and crouched in front of me, hands resting on my knees. “You feel this for my brothers too, don’t you? Just as strong?”

“Yes,” I admitted. “I don’t understand it a bit, but it’s like my soul sings loudest when each of you are close. Like I won’t be whole unless I’m with you. I want more, but I know I need to hold back if you’re going to be able to stay. I’m sorry.”

“Don’t apologize,” he said. “I want more too. I want all of you. But you’ll have to accept that I can’t give you everything right now. Not yet, anyway.”

I took a shaky breath and lifted one hand to his cheek, sliding it up to thread my fingers through his thick, wavy hair. It felt feather soft against my palm, and was that any surprise? He’d commanded a falcon to be his host, held the heart of the bird within his chest.
