CHAPTER 16

THE CROSS OF LOVE AND OBEDIENCE

Jesus came to me one day and asked me if I wanted to see another facet. He took my hand and we began to travel extremely fast. Everything passed by me in a blur, and I knew we were moving very fast because my clothes were pressed against me as though I were standing in front of a high velocity fan. My hair was flying straight out behind me and I could feel the skin on my face being pulled back by the force. I asked Jesus where we were going and He said we were going back in time.

Once we stopped, I saw Jesus as He was about to be whipped before His crucifixion. I turned to Him and hid my face in His waist. I told Him I could not, would not, watch this. He put His arms around me and said, “You must. You must. For if it weren’t for this, you would not be in My arms right now. If it weren’t for this, you wouldn’t have fellowship with our Father, and if it weren’t for this you wouldn’t have the Spirit of the living God dwelling within you. You must. You must see it.” So I turned my head and watched but stayed right there in His arms.

The first lash hit its mark. As the blood began to flow I cringed. I saw the Father start to rise from His throne and I heard the heart of Jesus saying, “No, Father, no. They don’t know what they are doing. Forgive them.” The second lash came and again the Father started to rise. “No, Father, forgive them.” The third, fourth, and fifth lashes came, and again He cried out for the Father to forgive. The 10th, 15th, 20th, 30th, and 39th lashes came, and after each one the cry of our Savior was, “Forgive them, Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they are doing.” I was nearly convulsed with tears in my vision, and I was physically aware of tears running down my cheeks.

Then I watched Him carry the cross. He stumbled, and Simon the Cyrene came up to carry it for Him. Do you know what His heart cried out? He cried out, “Thank You, Father. Thank you for sending Me help.” He was thankful and did not hesitate to say so to His Father. Through the pain and suffering, He thanked His Father for this seemingly small gesture of help as He continued on His course to Golgotha. He continued asking for the Father to forgive us until the end. Then He cried it aloud from the cross, “Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do.”

After this we made our way back through time to the throne room. As I stood crying in front of Him, He said, “There is forgiveness for both the saved and the unsaved, but it only comes through Me and you must receive it. It’s there for you always. The Almighty God is a God of forgiveness.
