Elijah roused me early with kisses. I grumbled a list of obscenities and burrowed deeper under the covers. He tunneled in next to me, pulling me against his body.

"Your hands are cold."

"I'm sorry. I've been out running. Warm them for me."

I pulled his hands down between my thighs.

Elijah chuckled. "That's effective."

He smelled like clean sweat and the first traces of winter. I curled against him.

"Hey, how about we get away for the weekend? My parents have a place in the Hamptons and I have to go up there to close it up for the winter."

"A weekend away? Can you afford to do that right now with Helena breathing down your back?"

"Fuck Helena. I want to get away with you. Say yes." He gave me a quick squeeze and kissed my neck. "It's right on the beach. It's too cold to swim, but there's a Jacuzzi and we both could probably get a lot of work done there."

I pushed back the covers and sat up, smiling. "And will you do a clambake for me? Or a big seafood boil that we can eat on the beach, while bundled in big chunky sweaters next to a huge bonfire?"

He laughed. "Yes. If that's what you want, I can do all those things."

"Okay then. Take me to the Hamptons."
