Reliability: Participants in lab studies are typically in a more direct connection with the study experimenter, leading to a reasonable expectation of dedication of the participants and truthfulness of the answers. On the other hand, crowdworkers engage with the tasks without supervision, and there is no direct communication between the experimenter and the crowdworker. The experimenter cannot check if they are working on multiple tasks at the same time [38], and needs to put extra efforts to check if a crowdworker is paying attention to the task.
