Chapter Twelve

She prodded her head toward the oncoming traffic. “But Michael…can they see?”

“No, I have hidden us within a bubble of security. All who pass by are unconcerned with the empty motorcycle. They are all experiencing peace and calmness through my essential energy.”

“Really? Wow.”

He lowered his head and whispered. “Another time, I will have you undress me, yet I know that wasn’t part of your fantasy. If you wish, I will make your fantasy come true in every detail, but I promise, next time, I will go slower, for it is the best way to make love.”

She squeaked in delight and then nodded. “Yes, Michael, take me. Just like my fantasy.”

Unbuckling his pants, he thrilled in sensing her taut nerves, vibrating with anticipation. He dropped his pants then underwear, bringing her closer. Placing a hand on her back, he gently bent her over the long padded seat. Resting his head next to hers, he listened to her rapid heartbeats and her shallow breaths. Michael nuzzled the side of her face. Kissed random sections and whispered loving words of devotion and allegiance seconds before he surged forward to her small cry.

Teresa tore out the door when an inhuman wail pinged across her sensitive eardrums. She scanned her immediate area, murmuring under her breath and turning her head left then right, searching for the origin of the unknown sound. Whatever cried out, she knew it was in great agony. She wasn’t sure what she’d find in the end, but she’d figure out how to help it once she located the source.

She stepped off the porch, carefully, when she heard it again. The sound was lower in tone yet still raking its harsh decibels across the tiny hairs of her cochlea. She lumbered toward the bushes, trying to prepare for and anticipate any adverse reaction she might encounter if the object turned out to be a wounded animal. Frightened, it might pounce at her, tearing through her soft skin with its sharp nails if she didn’t remain on high alert. The desire to help whatever was in pain propelled her forward, yet a part of her remained cautious. She didn’t want to be hurt in the process. She had to stay vigilant in case of anything.

Sensing motion in her immediate area, she whipped toward the source and then, suddenly, stopped in her tracks. Her eyes widened as she stared, stunned at the face of an uncommonly beautiful female. Her gaze then aimed straight down toward the woman’s hand, grabbing onto what looked like a black—colored, charred wound across her waist. The female held her hand tightly over the spot, grimacing every few seconds and swaying every so often with an added wince.

Teresa immediately fell to her knees in front of the woman. She raised her hands toward her. The female automatically flinched, pushing further away until Teresa spoke.

“No, please. Are you okay? Can I help you? Don’t be afraid.”

The female’s rigid shoulders slumped down. She heaved a sigh of relief, seconds before her eyes closed.
