The sample interviewed consisted of seven nascent firms from a range of industry sectors including agribusiness, education and training, financial services, consulting and professional services, aviation and personal services, reflecting the industry profiles of the regions. Table 6.1 presents a summary of the nascent firms and the start-up founders. Our nascent firm owners’ were largely in their 30s and 40s, consistent with the mid-career years found to be the most common age for Australian early stage entrepreneurs (Steffens & Omarova, 2018). From our understanding of their business activity and their own accounts, it seems they had identified a feasible entrepreneurial opportunity and been able to exploit it.
