Once they leave the room, I waste no time on casting the spell. I place my hands above the body again and chant the words that will bring forth the essences of the supernaturals that were with Veronica right before death.

My hands begin to tingle as I run them up and down the body, making sure not to touch it and mix my essence with the ones that are already there.

The signatures that I detected earlier, witch and vampire, are still present. I hone in on the witch essence and try to get a read on who it could be. I’m pretty familiar with all the witches in my past coven, but this one seems obscured somehow. Like they knew to block the essence. Fuck!

The vampire however has a distinct flavor. Old blood and dust tells me they are old. Like over a hundred. There’s something else there too. I didn’t pick it up before, but the scent of earth is mixed with the vampire. Normally earth is for werewolves. Why would a vampire be mixed with a werewolf?

The sweet scent of daisies overriding it is unique, making me think this vampire might be female. I’ll be able to tell who it is as soon as I come into contact with them.

Once my hands pass over the markings on her stomach, I see what’s really there. The sigils were drawn perfectly with cut marks. The depth of the wounds on certain parts of the sigils must indicate what demon was being summoned.

We are going to have to do more research on specific demon calling signatures. The only place that would have that is the archives, and that means speaking with my mother. A sick feeling comes over me as I think about asking her, but to find Veronica justice, I’ll do it.
