What It Does

A pressure sensor measures the force exerted by a gas or liquid, often in a container or pipe.

Static pressure is measured under conditions that change slowly or not at all. Dynamic pressure is subject to fluctuations. Pressure sensors tend to be designed for one condition or the other.

Schematic Symbols

Many specialized symbols are used in flow diagrams to represent pumps, valves, and sensors, including pressure sensors. Typically they involve a single letter or an X in a circle. These symbols are not generally found in electronic schematics, and therefore they are not included here.
