Concede: to give in; to admit a loss

In a contest, if you are losing, you might concede to the other person who has won.

Gary concedes

Gary ran for class president against Miranda. Miranda won by many votes. Gary was unhappy and asked that the votes be recounted. After the recount, Gary conceded to Miranda who had won.

Concise: short and to the point

Example

A sentence can be concise. It contains only necessary words.

Short and sweet

Some writers are known for being wordy. But in general, the best writing is concise. It conveys the most information in the fewest number of words.
