Can’t Win for Losing

After the security let us in, we pulled up into a circle driveway to what looked to be a mini mansion

"I guess somebody done came up in the world," I spoke, pissed. Clay looked at me as he jumped out to grab King.

"I'm not going in there," I stated.

"Shit, fine with me, sleep outside for all I care, I got what I want," he smirked, carrying King in the house. I hurried behind them.

"That was fast," Clay said.

"Look, don't speak to me and I won't speak to you. We only have one thing in common and that's King, so leave it at that," I spoke.

"Fine by me," he said as I looked around the house.

Clay walked up the spiral staircase that lead to the rooms upstairs. I walked into the kitchen and saw it decked in all black; it connected with a hallway that led to a set of big French doors. I opened the doors to be greeted by a movie room, with a screen as big as the movie theatre, and soft, huge seats that reclined. Clay had definitely outdone himself, but I still wasn't impressed. I walked back into the foyer to climb the stairs, and I was greeted by five doors. Since I saw Clay's room door open, I decided to open another door, only to be greeted by a white and gold baby room. The wall was all white, and the room had plush carpet and held a gold crib with white and gold blankets. Covering it were the words "King James," which was also written on the wall in gold. There were statues of gold-plated baby animals, and bookshelves filled with books next to a rocking chair. This nigga really out did himself. I had to make sure I was dealing with the same Clay I'd always known.

Before I got all sentimental, I turned around to leave out, only to be greeted by a walk in closet. I opened the door to see that it was filled with designer baby boy clothes and shoes. All I could keep repeating was, wow.

"This nigga really outdid himself!" I was in shock; it figures he would buy nothing but designer stuff.

I walked into Clay's room, pissed and ready to snap, and I guess he read my expression before I spoke, because he beat me to it.

"Don't start no shit Lovey, I just got him to sleep. I guess you love his room, right? Well, I guess you'll like yours then too," Clay spoke in a hushed tone.

"Don't look at me like that, I know you didn't think you were sleeping with me, now did you?" Clay spoke again, laughing.

I rolled my eyes and slammed his door, only to hear King wake up crying.

"You ain’t shit Lovey!" I heard Clay yell as I made my way, looking for my room.

I opened the door next to King's room and after looking in, I knew it had to be mine with a king sized canopy bed and black and white decorations throughout the room.
