Now, this morning, I am praying for you and for the lonely place inside of you. Proximity to people may have no bearing on whether or not you feel lonely. Women are lonely in their marriages and inside houses full of busy children. We might be lonely at church. We can be lonely in small towns and big cities. Tim Hansel has said, “Loneliness is not the same as being alone. Loneliness is feeling alone … no matter how many people are around you. It is a feeling of being disconnected, unplugged, left out, isolated.” 2 Loneliness is a feeling, not necessarily a circumstance.
