Aside: Doing Good

For four consecutive chapters we have focused on tools, looking at how to configure those tools and how to use them in daily life. Before we move on and consider how to get those three tools working in harmony with one another, I want to ensure we remember why we are doing all of this work. With our noses to the ground it would be easy to lose sight of the horizon, so let’s elevate our gaze once again.

We are committed to productivity and to a distinctly Christian understanding of it. Productivity is effectively stewarding your gifts, talents, time, energy, and enthusiasm for the good of others and the glory of God. The reason we use these tools is that they enable us to be most effective in that calling. We are not working for our tools, but learning how to make our tools work for us. All we are doing in these chapters is meant to help us in our great pursuit of glorifying God by doing good to others.
