Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. (Phil. 4:8)

Turn your attention away from your problem and toward the things that are truly good. Turn your mind to the solutions and answers that God has given you in the past. Turn your mind to His blessings and His promises. Focus your mind on His goodness and His love for you.

And then Paul advised, “The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do” (Phil. 4:9).

Having prayed with thanksgiving and praise, and having turned your mind toward what is of God and from God, you must then begin to do what God leads you to do. Paul said, “Do what I have done.” And what did Paul do? He worked; he prayed; he gave his witness; he taught the Scriptures to those who wanted to learn. He stayed very busy doing good things that were of benefit to himself, others, and ultimately, the kingdom of God.

That pattern of praying, focusing on the positive, and doing good is one that Paul said will cause you to be keenly aware that “the God of peace will be with you” (Phil. 4:9).
