Chapter Eight

~RIO~

"Yo, what's good wild kid, hit my line when you get this message," I spoke calmly into the phone but in reality, I was pissed the fuck off. I had been blowing up Romeo's phone and not once did he return any of my calls. I was starting to feel some type of way from the lil’ nigga’s actions. But knowing I had investments that needed to be handled, dwelling on Romeo's ass was not an option as of now.

I sat in my office twirling two stress balls between my fingers. I sat in deep thought contemplating on my next moves. In all honesty, I had a lot of shit on my mind lately, and the fact that it has been almost two months since I had spoken to Romeo and including the fact that I had not heard from any one of my main partners, had begun to piss me off even more. What the fuck was going on? Motherfuckers had just said ‘fuck Rio’ huh? Before I succumbed to my thoughts, I heard a knock at the door.

"Come in." It was Charles, my driver. "What’s good?"

"Zoo Woo and his peoples in Arlington Heights got bust down by the Feds this morning. Cops came in and shook down everything."

"What?" I questioned. "Impossible! I got two cops on payroll who works that beat, can’t nobody get through without getting past officer Schultz. And besides, he'd let me know if anything was finna go down before anybody even make a move on my block." Somebody was lying.

"Zoo and King claimed they ain’t seen the two cops in almost two months. Nobody came by to pick up nothing or any of the profits."

"And why the fuck am I just now hearing about this?" I yelled out, enraged by the negligence that had begun to take place around me. Charles shrugged his shoulders. "Of course you wouldn’t know, you’re just the driver!" I yelled out full of sarcasm. "And where is Zoo now?"

"Feds got ‘em."

"And my money? My product?"

"Feds got that too."

"Goodbye Charles," I said calmly.

"But boss, what do you want me to do abo—"

"I said GOOD FUCKIN BYYEEE!!!" I screamed out as I impaled one of my glass stress balls into my eighty-inch flat screen TV. Immediately, Charles closed the door shut, not saying another word.

Taking a fucking deep breath before I lost my motherfucking cool, I knew I needed to calm the fuck down. My blood was boiling and knowing how I get, reacting off of impulse has always been my downfall. Instead, I decided to call officer Schultz. I dialed his number and immediately the automated phone system said his number was no longer in service. I repeated to dial his number again, in hopes that maybe I must’ve dialed the wrong number, but to no avail; it did the same thing. Something wasn't right. I could feel it in my stomach that shit wasn’t adding up.

"FUCK!!!" I screamed out as my anger began to take the best of me.
