3.1 Introduction

In present research, multiple B-mode ultrasonic fetal images in successive order are collected from collaborator hospital with help from professional healthcare personnel. Specific protocols were prepared for sonographer and detail explanations are performed prior to clinical patient ultrasound scanning at the hospital. The aim of these clinical data collection is to build a proof-of-principle technique for 3D nuchal translucency thickness measurement in semi-automated function, in order to encounter all the critical limitations of existing conventional 2D measurement method. The entire work frame design is shown in Fig. 3.1. The process begins with clinical data acquisition, data manipulation for 3D reconstruction, 3D segmentation, 3D visualization and 3D measurement in high flexibility function. Interactivity of the developed algorithm in 3D simulation was built as callback command. It stands as better solution for our specific ultrasonic marker measurement as compared to existing commercial ultrasound imaging mode. Several developed unique visualization include hybrid visualization of MPR with volume rendering integrated with virtual sliders; this is not found from the existing commercial ultrasound imaging mode.
