a Tunnel’s Light

They chase after me as I run.

I run for the light of the One.

Will they catch up to me?

Or at Your Name will they flee?

How much longer will they seek?

I am starting to become weak.

I start to slow; the Light becomes a distant sight.

Is this a time I must fight?

My efforts have left me wounded, but I press on.

I strive to the Light of the dawn.

The cold, damp floor scrapes at my hands and knees.

Will you tell them to leave me alone and to go away, please!

Too weak for another step, I collapse.

Trying to call out, I cry, but I am silenced as they elapse.

I reach out with my weary hand to the Light,

Who brings Someone to defend me with all His might!
