Chapter 9

TIME WENT on, and Tommy and I got even closer. I mean, I still had to do my job, and as he got better, so did he, but we found ways to make it work. I guess it helped that Tommy didn’t seem to have much of a social life. As long as I went over at nighttime in New York, or on weekends, he was there waiting for me.

He really didn’t have too many friends, and I guess he didn’t really like to go outside. He did play a lot of video games, but he wasn’t so addicted that he wouldn’t turn them off when I came over. So it was all good.

I tried to free up as many nights as I could to go down and spend some time with my man at his apartment. And it worked for the most part. I got about five nights a week available so I could go be with Tommy. It was good.

Most nights were simple enough. We would watch a movie or some TV and inevitably end up blowing each other. I waited for the time when he would offer to fuck me, but I was still waiting. I guess I should have been upset, but I wasn’t. I was just happy I was getting some action. After all, it had been a very long time. Okay, fine. I’d never gotten any action before.

But now that I was getting some on a regular basis, I never wanted it to stop. Like ever. Every time we did stuff, I forgot everything crappy in my life and descended into a pleasure I’d never known before. And I wasn’t going to give that up for anything.

But things took an interesting turn one night a few weeks into our relationship. We were cuddling on the couch watching the latest cop drama. I wasn’t really into shows like that, but Tommy liked them. Besides, I didn’t really care what we watched as long as I could hold Tommy.

I was just settling in for a good cuddle. You know the kind where you are so warm and protected that you fall into a dream-like state. It was a little strange for me because I didn’t sleep, so I, of course, didn’t dream. But it was quickly becoming my favorite thing in the world.

However, my cuddle was not to be, as Tommy’s voice snapped me out of my stupor.

“Babe?”

“Yes,” I groaned, trying to make it very clear that I didn’t want to be disturbed.

He didn’t get the message. “Do you realize we’ve never been on a date before?”

“A date?”

“Sure. You know, that thing where we go out and participate in an activity together for the purposes of drawing us closer together.”

“I know what a date is.”

“Well, I wasn’t sure, since you seemed so unsure.”

Knowing this wasn’t going to be one of those topics Tommy let go of easily, I drew my body up so I could sit next to him instead of on top of him. I hated giving up my cuddle time, but maybe I could get it back if I appeased him.
