Before the mountains were birthed, before the orbs were molded and bowled, before the world was pitched from star to star, before everlasting and beyond everlasting, you are God. Your breath called man from dust, and to dust your voice returns him. In your sight, the rush of a thousand years is but as yesterday, as the path through one night. You sweep men away as a flood; we are a dream, like grass flourishing in the cool morning and dry and withered when the sun sets. Your anger brings us to an end, and your wrath is our fear. You set out our evils before you, the sins we have hidden face the light of your presences. All our days pass beneath your wrath and our years end like a sigh. They are counted to seventy, or eighty for the strong, but they are all toil and trouble, they are soon gone, and we fly away.
