Chapter 23

I sat low on the couch and watched “Clueless.” Aria sat next to me and she couldn’t keep her hands off of my stomach. Most pregnant women hated having their stomach touched, but I loved it.

“Sis, your hair is growing like crazy,” Aria said.

“I know; it’s the prenatal vitamins that I’m taking. Jacobie and I were thinking about getting a place of our own, but Blake hates the idea. I told her it’s because of the kids. Blake will eventually get tired of the kids running through the house,” I said.

“I understand that, you need privacy and babies do cry a lot. They are cute, but that crying will drive a deaf person crazy,” Aria said.

“The kids, does that mean Chantelle isn’t tripping anymore?” Angie asked. My straight lips and squinted eyes explained it all to her.

“I guess that’s a no,” Aria covered her face and snorted.

“Shut up Aria and after I tell you this, you will understand why I made that face.”

“What happened?” Angie and Aria asked.

“Jacobie thought it was time for me to meet the girls today.”

“Were you ready to meet them?” Angie asked.

“Yea, I was. I baked cookies, cupcakes, and ordered pizza. Cindy, which is the youngest and Christy’s age, actually likes me already. Caitlyn on the other hand is brainwashed by her mom,” I said.

“What do you mean brainwashed?” Angie asked.

“She sits at the table with her arms folded and stared at me like I was a black KKK member. When Jacobie tells her to eat her food, she doesn’t touch her pizza. Then when I offer her cupcakes and cookies, she tells me she only eats her mom’s cupcakes and cookies. She said her mom is at all her dance practices and her dad isn’t. Her mom attends all of her recitals…faithfully. She storms outside and Jacobie was ready to tear her ass out the frame.”

“I would have whipped her little ass then she would have told her mom. Then I would have whipped her mom’s ass for coming to my house with the drama,” Angie said as she sipped on her Barefoot Merlot wine. I placed my hand over my face as if I were embarrassed.

“Did Jacobie whip her ass? Please tell me he beat her little mannish ass!” Aria asked anxiously.

“No and I’m actually the one who fixed the situation. Well it’s temporarily fixed until her mom fills her head up with lies again. I went outside to talk to her and the things she told me were insane. Chantelle told her child that I was the reason that her dad wasn’t home and I’m the reason why their dad didn’t love them anymore. She even told Caitlyn that she can’t like me or the baby.

What kind of woman tells a child she can’t like her sister? I’m fine with the fact she doesn’t want her to like me, but her sister? Her damn unborn sister! My baby didn’t do anything to Chantelle. I will not take the blame for her and Jacobie’s breakup.
