WALTERS’S HOME IS FRAMED. At this oceanview site on Street of the Green Lantern, the 1928 sign reads: “House Being Erected for Mrs. A. G. Walters by Lincoln Mortgage. Work to Start at Once.” The curve of the Capistrano Bay coast beyond remained as yet undeveloped. Walters’s home would be within walking distance of both her Blue Lantern Fountain Lunch and Service Station and her observation gazebo.

ONE OF THE FIRST HOMES. Finishing touches like mortar for tile required small construction equipment at this site on Granada Drive. Lincoln Mortgage Company financed 13 of the first homes, while some lot owners sought their own financing and others held their bare parcels for investment. Today streets with restored 1920s homes also include Santa Clara Avenue, El Camino Capistrano, Chula Vista Avenue, Street of the Blue Lantern, and El Encanto Avenue.
