Now me and my kids were right back where we started from out on the streets with no place to go. We walked over to my friend Gloria house. Gloria mother said we could stay there, but I knew then I had to find a place for me and my kids to stay. I couldn’t keep getting put out, and taking them from place to place. Every morning when I would walk Roscoe Jr. to school I would walk around looking for some apartments that was vacant or had a for rent sign on it. My main focus right now was to find somewhere that we could call home. I walked each and every day without failure. Then one day I came across some gentlemen working on an apartment building. I knocked on the door that was ajar, and went on in. The guy that was working on the apartment was the landlord. He gave me a tour of the apartment in the basement, and he also showed me another apartment upstairs. The landlord name was Javier. He said if I wanted one of the apartments he would be more than happy to rent me one. Just being that close to being in something I could finally call my own made me overjoyed. Maybe things would come my way after all, because we had never had our own apartment. This would be me and the kids first ever apartment. I went back to my friend’s apartment, because I knew I would have to call Bobby to get the money for the security deposit and the first month rent. Bobby said he would give me the money if he could move in with me. Seeing that I was between a rock and a hard place I didn’t have any choice. Bobby and I move the next day into the ground floor apartment, and inside it someone had left a sofa and old console stereo that had a radio and cassette player in it. One side had an eight track, and the other side had a radio and it all still worked. We had a place to sit and some entertainment until we got some beds and a TV. It wasn’t the best looking apartment, but it was ours. The only thing I could think about was that we were finally in our own. After all the times we were put out, and now no one will be able to put us out unless we didn’t pay our rent. I went to the store and got us some blankets, so we could have something to sleep on. Bobby and I had our first sexual encounter in our new apartment. I had succumbed to yet another sexual encounter with a man who I barely knew. This was different Bobby had something I needed, and I knew I had something he wanted my body. I almost felt like a prostitute this time, because I had traded sex for money for an apartment. Although he had moved in with me, so that put a spin on that theory.
