"You know if you think about her long enough she'll appear,” Vanya said as she watched Aidan relive his time together with Leighton.

Aidan blinked and the past faded. “Huh?”

Vanya said with a chuckle, "Nothing." It was fun watching Leighton and Aidan in love. Both were nice, funny people who cared about their family and only wanted what was best for their children. That was the main reason Aidan refused to move Leighton to Los Angeles. He didn’t want LeighAnna and the boys to be corrupted by other rich children who thought they were entitled. She envied that about them. They were willing to live in Atlanta because it was not Hollywood or in the proverbial spotlight.

"Van, did I space out again?" He always did that when he was talking about Leighton or remembering a special moment with her.

"Don’t worry about it. A man in love deserves a little space."

"Thanks, Van."

"No problem. Listen, I have a few designers who would love to dress Leighton. Do you think she’ll be up for a few fittings?"

Aidan nodded. “She should be. Her latest job is about to wrap up and she doesn’t have another scheduled for a while.”

“So you finally let her take some jobs?” Vanya questioned. Aidan had been worried people only wanted to hire Leighton because she was his girlfriend and not because she was good at what she did but Vanya disagreed. Leighton was able to throw a discreet party together in no time or take over at a moment’s notice when someone had to fire their party planner at the last minute, making any event more wonderful than the client thought possible. She was a party-planning wonder.

“Yes. Charlie is with her most of the time so she’s safe from prying eyes.” If she wasn’t, she wouldn’t be working.

"You are so overly protective."

"You sound like Leighton. There is a method to my madness," Aidan replied.

"Good, ‘cause there needs to be or you could lose her," Vanya replied.

Aidan sighed. He didn’t want to lose Leighton. He just wanted to keep her safe.

“Van, this party-planning business of hers…”

“…Was something she was working on long before you came into the picture. Listen, Aidan, she quit her day job like you asked. You cannot expect her to sit around all day doing nothing. She is not your typical Hollywood girlfriend, fiancée or significant other. Shopping and eating out is not her passion. This business is.”

“I know I just don’t want people to take …”

“Advantage. I get that, believe me I do, but you have to give a little here. She is living in your world now. Not the other way around. She has made sacrifices for you but have you made any for her?”

Aidan sighed. Vanya was right. Leighton had done everything he had asked of her. Oh, she had protested but in the end she had relented and he had done nothing for her.

“So what do I do?”

"Ease up a little. Not every person wants to hurt Leighton.”

"She’s important to me. I just…”

"Want her safe and happy.
