Steps for Plan B

1. With just one carrier (no need for a modulator), take its output and feed it back into its own modulation input.

2. With an input level of around 40% you should have a timbre that closely resembles that of a sawtooth!

Continuing our theme of emulating sounds out of subtractive synthesis, let’s try making a square wave (see Figure 5.10). We know that square waves consist of primarily odd harmonics, so working with a ratio that avoids even harmonics is the idea, and that can be done by having the modifier at a higher ratio than the carrier.
