I laughed as Sara finished telling us about her latest rendezvous with her shifter man, which resulted in a harsh bump on her head when things got too rough and she head-butted the wall.

Hannah was cackling away as she shoveled M&Ms into her mouth, and we all sat in Danny and Gemma’s giant room, a third bed now having been added for Anne.

“Did Rose tell you about her last encounter?” Hannah mused, and all eyes flicked between us.

“No, what happened?” Gemma pressed, leaning forward as she sat cross-legged on her bed.

We’d all worn our pajamas and were sitting around on the three beds while the aquelis all sat on the desk.

I groaned as Hannah went on to tell them about my big magical occurrence… with two guys.

This resulted in squeals and gasps, and I rolled my eyes.

“Did you take them both at once?” Danny hissed, as if she thought someone might hear us.

“No, they took their turn each,” I corrected, and she pouted.

“Have you had two guys at once?” I shot back, and her cheeks reddened.

This led to learning about Danny’s ventures into an entire orgy at one point, which had us all squealing and laughing in disbelief.

I was grateful Mr. Brady had given me the a-okay to tell my friends everything, every little aspect of the warlock stuff, as long as it didn’t leave this room, which they understood.

“I still can’t believe you can remember a whole life before this,” Gemma mused as she opened a bag of salt and vinegar chips.

“We all had them, we just don’t get to remember them,” Sara said with a sigh. “Wonder who I was. Maybe an awesome dancer.”

“You probably worked on a boat, or were some rich kid who fell off her boat,” Anne stated. “After all, you became a siren.”

“True,” Sara said thoughtfully before shrugging. “Still, this whole supernatural ones who can remember is fascinating.”

It truly was, and Matt had informed me that Allison was helping previously supernatural sirens remember their lives if they chose to. The one she’d assisted in NSW was now even shifting again apparently, able to access both her siren nature and shifter nature, and she’d reconnected with her own family. It was mind-boggling but incredible.

“Rose, you said your father was the reason we all came after you, right?” Anne asked, a frown marring her soft features now as she twisted her rainbow lollipop around uneasily.

“Yeah.” Guilt latched its wretched fingers into me, my chest aching as Hannah cast me a sad look.

“I’m so sorry,” Anne said, and my heart lurched.

“Don’t you dare apologize. It’s not your fault at all. My—our father, is clearly deranged and cruel,” I muttered.

“Doesn’t mean you can take on any guilt either. You didn’t force his hand, he made his choices,” Danny said as she watched me closely, and I just clenched my jaw.

“Oh, Rose, you don’t think we’d ever blame you, do you?” Anne’s face fell even more.

“He did it all to test me, I think. It all revolved around me,” I mumbled.
