Miracle: 2008

I was at a loss for words. Devin stood in front of me in bloody clothes, and wept like a baby. I had panicked when I saw all of the blood on his clothes earlier, and he hadn’t spoken a word yet – hadn’t been able to tell me what was wrong. I didn’t know what happened, but I wanted to make him feel better. I just didn’t know how to help him escape from the demons he seemed to be fighting.

I pulled my hands from him and softly kissed his lips. I left the room, softly closing the door behind me. I peeked in on Amari to make sure he was still asleep and proceeded to the bathroom. I grabbed some towels from the closet and turned the shower on. I didn’t know what Devin had gotten into, but I knew he wasn’t walking around with that amount of blood on his clothing for nothing.

Walking back into my bedroom I found Devin in the same spot I left him. Taking him by the hand, I led him to the bathroom and closed the door, locking it behind us. Undressing him the same way I would do my son, I pushed him into the shower and gathered his clothes from the floor. Exiting the bathroom, I threw his underclothes in the washer, and placed his bloodstained jeans and shirt into a thick black trash bag. Leaving the bag by the door, I reentered the bathroom to check on Devin.

Pulling the door closed behind me, I could see his silhouette behind the sliding glass door standing under the shower head. Not wanting to intrude on his privacy, I sat on the toilet, holding his towel in my lap. I didn’t want to think the worse, but all sorts of scenarios raced through my head as to why he would show up to my house after midnight covered in blood.

Lost in my own thoughts, I jumped when drops of water hit my feet. Looking up quickly, I was surprised to find Devin standing in front of me. Taking my hand, he pulled me to my feet. He quickly pulled me into the shower, disregarding the fact that I was fully dressed.

In the shower he gently pushed me against the wall as he pressed his lips against mine. I gasped as his tongue entered my mouth and he used his right hand to reach up under my tank top and play with my nipples. The water from the shower hit me in my face as I threw my head back, but I didn’t care.

Pulling his lips away from mine, Devin pulled the tank top over my head and dropped it on the bottom of the tub. Bending down he pulled my pajama shorts down and I stepped out of them. Before I could comprehend what happened he stuck his head between my thighs and l nearly screamed when his tongue touched my clit.

Grabbing his shoulders for support, I leaned my head back and closed my eyes.
