Further pollen studies confirmed that this model of tree migration correctly represents the processes that took place. For instance, Keith Bennett [4] and Matsuo Tsukada [36] have shown that models of exponential population growth fit the postglacial expansions of many tree populations in Britain, Japan and North America. Also, later pollen studies have shown that fires have triggered abrupt changes in forest composition in many other parts of the world (e.g. North Queensland [8]).
