Jab Step

Setup:

Wide receivers line up in single file on the sideline. They will work horizontally across the field from the sideline to the hash. A pop-up dummy is set in front of the first wide receiver in line. The dummy is right in front of the receiver, simulating a bump-and-run defensive back.

Execution:

On the coach’s cadence “hit,” the wide receiver performs a jab step and head-and-shoulders fake to release off the ball. The ball is off to the right or the left of the receiver, wherever the coach chooses.

The coach leans the dummy in the direction of the fake away from the wide receiver’s release.

After he releases past the dummy, the wide receiver works to finish at the near hash mark.

All the wide receivers work to the hash to finish. The whole line can then work back in the other direction.
