The walk with my son the night before his wedding was a highlight of my life. His invitation and our conversation blessed my soul tremendously. The words “communication” and “community” stem from the same Latin root, communicatio, which literally means “to make common.” Historically, the term was even used to refer to “possession of a common faith.”2 Communication is how we create shared (common) lives. As we communicate, we form relationships that become our communities.
