1.Laryngoscopy provides the initial assessment of the disease status, the extent of mucosal involvement, and vocal cord mobility while imaging helps upstage the disease by providing information regarding pre-epiglottic/paraglottic/subglottic extensions and status of thyroid cartilage as well as the presence of subclinical neck secondaries.

2.In cancer involving anterior commissure, imaging can upstage disease status from T1 to T4 (thyroid cartilage involvement) a finding which may be missed on clinical examination.
