Even though their ears aren’t visible because they’re covered with feathers, chickens have excellent hearing. Furthermore, unlike humans, they don’t suffer hearing loss with age. This is because any damaged hearing cells in the chicken can regrow.

Like many other animals and plants, chickens love music. When chickens listen to classical music, they are calmer and more relaxed.

Chickens can hear sounds ranging from 15 to 10,000 Hz, a bit lower than the range of normal human hearing (from 20 to 20,000 Hz). All the same, chickens have a much better hearing range than many other animals: turtles can’t hear the highest notes sung by a soprano (up to 2,000 Hz), but chickens (and frogs!) can enjoy a whole concert!
