To maintain a position in the high-performance muscle car market, Chevrolet offered this limited-production Cosworth Vega in mid-year 1975. It was powered by an engine designed by English race car builder Cosworth Engineering Ltd. and pictured below. Priced at $5,916, a $2,000 premium over the conventional Vega hatchback, only 2,061 of the Twin Cam “image cars” were produced. (N.)

The limited production Cosworth Vega engine, pictured here, was a high revving, 120-horsepower, 122-cid (2.0-liter) four-cylinder featuring double-overhead camshafts, four valves for each cylinder, Bendix electronic fuel injection, and other high-output features. The engines were manufactured at the Chevrolet Tonawanda, New York, factory and shipped to the Lordstown, Ohio, assembly plant for installation. (N.)
