Chapter 7
Kailani
Iwas embarrassed, yet oddly turned on. No human male ever made me feel this way. Hell, I didnât know I liked being spanked until now.
âCome back to the hut with me,â he said. âIt will be safe and warm there. We will not stay long. I need to gather our food and clean the mess I made. After all, it is the polite thing to do for others who might need it one day. And, as a bonus, you can ride me back.â One of his robin-egg blue eyes blinked.
I think he was aiming for a wink, but I couldnât be positive. He reached for me, and I jumped back, still unsure.
âIâm going to change into my dragon form. Itâll be faster to cover the distance,â he said.
âYouâre not holding me in your talons.â
âClaws,â he corrected.
"Talons, claws, whatever," I mumbled.
âI wouldnât. You are far too delicate. I need you to climb onto my back. Trust me,â he said. âIt will be much faster this way, and I want to get to the caves before the storm rolls in.â
I nodded. The air around him shimmered, as if magic itself was at play. He shifted into a beautiful silver dragon, the same I saw flying overhead. I sucked in a breath. âI'm trusting you. I donât believe youâll hurt me.â
Gorgeous wings sprouted from his back behind his shoulder blades. He lowered his tail and a wing to the ground before lowering his neck, giving me options so I could climb onto his back. I chose to climb up his tail, figuring that he couldnât kick me by accident or squash me with a wing. That wasnât the way I wanted to go out. Hell, it wasnât in my top ten ways to go. Before landing here, I thought being sucked into the vacuum of space would have been the worst way to die. Maybe it still would be, but I could add getting squished to death by a dragon shifter alien to my fears. Edurr swished his head side to side and he used his tail to push me in the position on his back where I supposed he thought I would be the safest.
His massive head swiveled to look at me out of the corner of his eye and chuffed. So different in this form, his bright blue eyes remained the same, letting me know he truly was man and beast. His enormous wings raised and lowered slowly so I would recognize the motion. I straddled my legs across his back, the uniform stretching to the max while I rode him. He flew low to the ground, my hair flying behind me. A small part of me wanted to recreate that iconic movie scene where I stood up and screamed âIâm queen of the world!â except we werenât on water, nobody was behind me holding me securely, and I was on a distant planet literally riding a dragon.
Iâm sure Edurr was used to flying faster than he did. He took it slow with me on his back.
