Chapter 11

Noonie couldn’t believe how Julius left her house without getting rid of the cocaine first. She was beginning to think that her feelings didn’t matter and that made her mad. So mad that she was willing to go to the hospital and let Sapphire know that her and Julius were going to be together forever and to stay away from him. As she walked back and forth from the bathroom back to the bedroom, she was mad at herself for flushing the cocaine down to the toilet. She didn’t have the shakes, but she knew that if she didn’t give more cocaine, soon they were going to come.

Noonie couldn’t stand to have the shakes, but she was determined to get her life back on track. She knew that she had to do anything and everything that she could to kick the habit. She decided to call La’Porsha again. She was happy to hear La ’Porsha’s voice on the other end of the phone, in some strange way it felt like she was saved. “What took you so long to answer the phone? I’ve been calling you for hours?” She asked, agitated.

“Girl, why are you yelling at me like that?” La’Porsha asked as her, and Jerome put their bags in the back of the cab. They had just arrived at the Sacramento airport. “I just got back from out of town was up?”

“I can’t get this cocaine out of my mind no matter what I do it keeps talking to me. I need your help I need to go somewhere and be locked in a room so that I can detox.” Noonie was adamant about what she was saying. She wasn’t a happy addict.

“Who is that?” Jerome whispered he didn’t want the other person to hear him being noisy. He didn’t like the look of La ’Porsha’s face. She looked like she was in shock and he can tell that she had just heard some bad news.

La’Porsha took the phone off her ear and pressed the mute button. She didn’t want Noonie to hear her tell Jerome, who was on the other line because she wasn’t sure if Noonie wanted him to know. “It’s Noonie. She needs me. She started back doing cocaine.” La’Porsha took the phone off mute. “Calm down. If you have any cocaine with you, now flush it down the toilet. I know it’s going to be hard, but you need to flush it down the toilet right now.”

“I already flushed it down the toilet after Julius left. He’s on his way to the hospital because Sapphire is in labor. Can you believe that motherfucker left me here with the whole plate of cocaine, knowing that I was trying to kick the habit.” Noonie seemed not to care that La’Porsha was with Sapphire’s cousin. She was too busy being selfish because Julius left her and went to the hospital because his pregnant girlfriend was going into labor.

“Hold up, back up, you mean to tell me that Sapphire is in labor, and no one called me?” La’Porsha didn’t know what to think.
