You can do an exercise that will acquaint you with this, using the Quarterly Moola Goals illustrated play sheet to map out your launches and estimated earnings by quarter. In the top row write out what you want to accomplish per quarter (such as “Fill twenty seats in my six-month program” or “Sell thirty commissioned paintings” or “Build my list to ten thousand subscribers.” Next, list your key launch(es) by month and include the estimated income for each month in the box with the dollar sign. Add up the total moola goal for each quarter, and then add up the total for all quarters to calculate your moola goal for the year. You can also work backward from the moola goal for the year and allocate the total across the quarters based on the estimated scale of your launches.

Once I have broad brushstrokes for the year, I focus on the current quarter. For launches in that quarter that require specific schedules or project plans, I dive into that next level of detail in Word or Excel (or on Google Docs if I need to share them in real time with other team members). The great thing about documenting the launch process as you go is that you’ll have your own blueprint for the next time around. See chapter 9 for more tips on documenting procedures and creating your Smooth Sailing Systems.

Here are a few different ways to approach planning out your launches.
