Chapter Five

What did he want?

Yesterday he’d wanted nothing to do with relationships or sex. And now…now what?

Peter watched the door Luka had gone through and bit his lip. He wanted Luka in his life, and that kiss had lit him up like the fourth of July. But did he have the courage to go any further with it?

Luka hadn’t been in his life for twenty years, so if he looked at it that way he didn’t have anything to lose—since he was pretty sure their renewed friendship meant enough to them both for them to get past any awkwardness, no matter what.

But what if they could have something more than friendship?

The doorbell chimed in the hall, echoing through to the living room. Shit! He’d forgotten to unplug the damn thing. Again! After he got rid of whoever was at the door, he was going to rip the stupid thing off the wall.

It had been on his to-do list for a few weeks, but no one ever came to his house anymore other than Harry and Maggie, and they never used it in case it woke up Loukas. That left either a salesperson cold-calling or a religious fanatic looking for acolytes, neither of which he wanted to deal with right now.

But he had to answer before the noise woke Loukas. Getting his ass in gear, he ran to the door and unlocked it.

Peter pulled it open—to find an excited-looking Kelly standing on his porch. His still half-hard cock, that was wishing he’d gone after Luka, wilted.

“Kelly, what are you doing here?” was all he could think to say.

She seemed taller than usual, and he realized she was wearing ridiculously high heels. How she got over the gravel drive alive he’d never know. But what she was wearing was even stranger. Kelly had on a skin-tight black dress that looked like bandages and was barely long enough to cover her… assets.

“I thought about what you said,” she burst out, “And I’ve decided to hand in my notice so that we can be together. I love you, Peter, and I’ll even put up with your brat until he’s old enough to send to boarding school.”

He was too stunned to anything but catch her as she flung herself at him.

Stumbling, Peter slammed back against the wall and tried to fend Kelly off when she planted a wet kiss on his lips and shoved her breasts into his chest. “Kelly, wait,” he gulped.

His secretary didn’t even stop to listen to him; she just shut the door, got down on her knees before him, and attacked his pants zipper.

This was getting way out of hand.

Kelly was an attractive woman, and before he’d been married he would have jumped at the chance to sleep with her, but he’d grown up a lot since then, and her aggressive forcefulness and disregard of his refusals only turned him off.

“Get up!” he yelped. “Dammit, are you drunk?”

The fly of his pants gave way, and he literally had to shove her to stop the clawed hand grabbing at him.
