Chapter 28

Erica

I looked at Kieran in surprise. He had just sworn loyalty to me. I didn’t know what to say.

“Get up,” I said and tugged on his shirt, “And I promise we will find out where Gen is. I’ll get your mate back to you Kieran.” He stood up again and smiled at me before leaning over and kissing my head.

“Come on,” he said. “Let’s get you back, you look like you could drop at any moment,” He was right because I felt so freaking tired suddenly.

We strolled back to the pack house and around the front of the building. I could see the warriors on early morning training in their units. I was still unsure of how many warriors Shadow Night had, but I knew it was way more than Silver Stone had right now. Kieran seemed to get irritated, and I noticed he was mind linking. His expression told me he wasn’t happy with whoever it was. He came out of the link and sighed before looking at me and smiling.

“Come on love,” He said and headed back into the house. I followed him in and we were met by the Thompson twins. Kieran glared at them before moving to the stairwell. The grumpy one waved his arm for me to follow along behind Kieran, and then I sensed as both guards followed on behind me.

I rushed up to Kieran and lowered my voice to a whisper.

“What’s going on?” I asked and heard the flirty one snigger behind me. Okay then, I know you can hear me, you dick.

“Jasper has put these two on you permanently, and I am not to leave your side,” he whispered back.

“You and Sarah are to stay with me or Grant at all times.”

“Wait, why?” I asked, “I mean, it’s not like I can go somewhere,” I grumbled.

“It’s not to keep you prisoner, love,” he said. “It’s to keep you safe. Apparently, Jasper had a run in with Heidi.” I hissed at the name. I’d not seen her of late and I was good with that. “He had her thrown in a cell for twenty-four hours and his father wasn’t too impressed with him.” I must have looked as worried as I felt because Kieran grabbed my arm, pulling me to a standstill.

“Hey love,” he said, “Don’t stress about it. Jasper isn’t, and neither am I. It’s just a precaution.”

I smiled again, trying to relax my breathing, and we set off back to the top floor and to my room. The room was in darkness and on a quick look into Sarah’s room, I could see Sarah asleep in bed and Grant on the floor beside her bed. I closed the door with a smile. And headed quickly into the bathroom to change into some night clothes and brush my teeth and stuff. But by the time I had come out, Kieran had set himself up on the sofa and already looked half asleep.

I turned out the lights and crawled into bed. I started to drift off to sleep when I felt the bracelet that Becca had sent.
