“Jeremy and Joyce are getting serious. He’s spending all his free time with her and it sounds like they’re having a great time.”

“You sound uncertain about the whole thing.”

“Yeah, I guess I’m used to Jeremy being all about our work. I mean, he knows how to have fun, but he’s never spent so much time on other stuff. Not that I have any right to talk. We’ve been seeing each other a lot too.”

“I didn’t expect to get this much of your time—you are such a busy guy. Is it okay? For real?”

“It’s hard, sometimes, but it’s what I want.”

“You’ll let me know if we need to back off a bit?” The sliver of pain took her by surprise.

“Right now, I’m thinking the opposite. Mama’s burrito and a show at the Crocodile tonight? The Suicidekicks are playing to promote their new album. It’s called Party in the Vomitorium.”
