My sleep was just getting good when Juju came banging on the door. For the first five minutes I continued to lay there, but the banging only got louder. Juju knew I was a nasty person when I didn’t get all of my sleep.
“Fuck wrong with you?” I swung the door all the way open and Juju was standing there holding up a black Armani suit with a pair of black Armani dress shoes to match.
“Go get dressed; we got business to take care of. I’ll be outside in the limousine waiting for ya ass.” It was ten o’clock at night and we were going to a meeting. This was definitely some new shit for me.
We pulled up in the parking lot of a building that was surrounded by people waiting to get inside. Everyone was dressed in their finest attire. The women had on long gowns that dragged across the ground, while the men had on designer suits and flashy jewelry to assemble it all. Juju handed me a ticket with my name and a table number on it.
“What’s all this?” I asked. I needed to know what I was getting myself into before walking into something without any clue. I needed to be prepared just in case some shit went down.
“This is the beginning of new things,” he said as he got out the car. When we reached the door, I gave the usher my ticket and made my way inside. I stepped inside realizing we were at some type of ball. I felt a little out of place being surrounded by a bunch of foreigners and white people. I wasn’t racist or anything, but I just didn’t feel comfortable. Juju crept up behind me carrying a glass of champagne in his hand. I gulped the drink down in one swallow. I was gonna need it to get through the night.
“Drink, but don’t get drunk. When dealing with these types of people things can turn deadly in a matter of seconds.” As soon a Juju said that I heard three shots go off before I saw a body hit the ground. Five big African men emerged from out of nowhere to dispose of the body. I ain’t gonna lie, it fucked my head up. People were socializing like the shit never happened. Not one person stopped what they were doing to see what was going on. The waitress walked by and I downed another drink. I was way in over my head with this one.
“You weren’t playing when you said you had ventured on to some next level shit,” I said as I pulled on my goatee. I was trying to figure out where I fit into the mix of all these people. I was ready to see what kind of numbers they were talking.
“Follow me and remain cool. Only speak when spoken to. These are the type of people that will kill you and then feed your body to their pet animals.” I didn’t like how Juju was talking to me, but I understood where he was coming from.
